ABOUT ME
VALERIA BONO
Italian Counsellor (BACP) and
Life Coach in London
I was 37, single, jobless and with very little money, and didn’t speak English. So, naturally, I moved to London!
But my professional journey began much earlier than that. Born in Sardinia, Italy, I began working in the social care sector in 1996. Since then, I’ve worked alongside a wide range of professional figures, from psychotherapists, social workers, and doctors to teachers and judges.
I’ve also collaborated with various educational bodies and rehabilitation agencies, including refuges for female domestic abuse victims and children, foster homes and centres which help adults with mental health needs reintegrate back into society.
I began my career as a support worker for mothers in challenging circumstances and their children. This experience inspired me to study educational sciences. The word “education” means "to help someone lead out what is within”. This idea fascinated me.
In 2003, I was awarded my master’s degree in social work.
In 2011, I qualified as a Professional Gestalt Counsellor, successfully completing a three-year integrative and pluralistic counselling course with Italy’s Association for the Psychological Development of the Individual and the Community (A.S.P.I.C.) in Rome. This means I’m trained in a number of different therapeutic modalities and can tailor my sessions specifically to your needs.

Born in Sardinia, Italy, I've been lining in London since 2013.
After this, I began offering art therapy workshops to individual clients and small groups. My career in social work was also in full swing. I worked in an emergency shelter for single mothers and children and in a centre which helped mental health patients with occupational rehabilitation and social reintegration.
My first job in London was as a nursery nurse. Attending various training courses helped me learn English and understand the British education system.
I then became a member of BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy). This national body has one of the highest standards when it comes to checking counsellors’ and psychotherapists’ qualifications and professional ethics.
Following the global pandemic and subsequent lockdown in 2020, I decided to explore new tools and techniques within the support profession. And so, I became a life coach.
I set up my Facebook group, “Successful Women Abroad – Clarity & Confidence Coaching” to support women living abroad, and created my free downloadable guide “5 steps to become a successful woman abroad – How to unlock your potential and build your confidence so that you can create a highly successful career”.
Today I provide my services online on a freelance basis. I prioritise keeping my knowledge and skills up to date. This means I can help my clients achieve their goals, connect with and understand their emotions, discover their potential and find out what they need to do to take back control of their lives and rediscover hope.
I love travelling and discovering new cultures and traditions
The natural world, exercise and meditation are central to my emotional and physical wellbeing.
I love art in all its forms. Theatre, dance, music and painting are just some of the practices I’ve dabbled in.
I’m particularly interested in exploring and awakening female empowerment. I’ve spent years learning as much as possible about this immense power hidden inside us women, reading around the subject and attending workshops and lectures.
I consider myself “intellectually spiritual". Energy work is often regarded as something "magic", something intangible. But my experience and learnings have taught me that it's real.
Extensive neuroscience and quantum physics research show how energy - electromagnetic waves in our brain - can influence our surroundings. A bit like telematic channels, our bodies emit frequencies which connect to and attract elements of the outside world operating at the same frequencies.
